It’s true: cooking is essential to survival. But far too often, food is viewed as a physical necessity and nothing more.

I see things a different way. Cooking isn’t just a way to fuel our bodies—it’s a way to connect with the people we love.

That’s why I wrote Everything With Love—to collect my life’s recipes that share a vital throughline. Love.

This cookbook began as a gift to my children. But as I went on, I realized that the reach of this project isn’t just limited to the Selby household. Everything With Love is packed with love-filled recipes from every cuisine and for every scenario—from quick lunches to elegant dinners.

By releasing this book into the world, I’m sharing the spirit that has filled my family with joy for decades. Every time you prepare a recipe, I know you’ll be able to feel it too.

Hi, I’m Kim

My happiest moments have all had a home-cooked meal at their center. Raised in a small town in Illinois as one of seven children, my childhood was marked by the colors, tastes, and smells of our kitchen. Every year, we had sprawling family reunions where I tasted a spectrum of rich foods that had been preserved in my family for generations.

When my ice skating career took me across the world at the age of 15, these family recipes became my only link to home. I remember calling my mother on Christmas Eve, asking for her famous Cinnamon Roll recipe. Within the hour, I had so much more than my favorite gooey confection. I was no longer in a cramped room when I closed my eyes. I was in my parents’ kitchen, surrounded by the people I loved the most.

Eventually my career brought me to Los Angeles where I met my future husband, Rick Selby. We raised three beautiful children together—Kelsey, Chloe, and Ricky—and used our kitchen as a sanctuary to connect, recharge, and share our love. This cookbook is my way of sharing that gift.

In Everything With Love, I’ve put together recipes from every cuisine and for every occasion. But all of the dishes hold one thing in common: they have love as the essential ingredient.
